About This Bukhara to Iran via Turkmenistan Tour
This 4-day Turkmenistan transit tour from Bukhara to Iran or Ashgabat combines Ancient Merv, Ashgabat and the Darvaza Gas Crater in one overland journey across Turkmenistan.
The route begins at the Farap–Alat border after crossing from Bukhara in Uzbekistan. From there, travel through Turkmenabat towards the UNESCO-listed ruins of Ancient Merv, continue overnight by train from Mary to Ashgabat, and explore the capital before heading into the Karakum Desert.
Spend a memorable night in a traditional Turkmen yurt beside the Darvaza Gas Crater, then return to Ashgabat with stops at the Water and Mud craters.
On the final day, choose between continuing overland to Iran via the Howdan/Gaudan–Bajgiran border or transferring to Ashgabat International Airport (ASB) for your onward flight.
