This 1-day Turkmenabat city and Amul Fortress tour from Bukhara is an easy cultural excursion into eastern Turkmenistan, combining Silk Road history, local traditions and everyday city life.

Enter Turkmenistan through the Farap Border and meet your local guide inside the border terminal. From there, continue to Turkmenabat, the regional centre of Lebap Province near the historic Amu Darya River.

During the day, explore the remains of Amul Fortress, once an important Silk Road settlement, visit the Lebap Regional History Museum, enjoy traditional Turkmen cuisine and experience the lively atmosphere of Gok Bazaar.

The tour finishes with an optional Amu Darya photo stop, dinner in Turkmenabat and a return transfer to the Farap Border for your journey back to Bukhara.

09:00 AM – Meet at Farap Border

After crossing from Uzbekistan, complete passport and migration formalities at the Farap Border.

Meet our local guide inside the main hall of the Turkmen border terminal.

During the entry process, border officers will contact our team, and your guide will recognise you using the photograph provided in advance.

Transfer to Turkmenabat

Leave the border terminal and travel to Turkmenabat.

The distance is approximately 45 km, with a journey time of around 30 minutes.

Turkmenabat is the main city of eastern Turkmenistan and has long been connected with trade routes running along the Amu Darya.

Turkmenabat Historical and Cultural Tour

Begin a guided exploration of the city’s main historical and cultural attractions.

Lebap Regional History Museum

Visit the Lebap Regional History Museum and discover exhibitions dedicated to the history and culture of eastern Turkmenistan.

The museum collection includes archaeological finds, traditional carpets, ethnographic objects and displays connected with the heritage of the Lebap region.

Amul Fortress

Continue to the historic remains of Amul Fortress.
