Tour programme

Day 1: Shavat border – Dashoguz – Darvaza Gas Crater

• 10:00 AM (Approx.) — Seamless Border Welcome: Meet our local guide right inside the main hall of the Shavat Border Control Terminal on the Turkmen side. Once your migration and passport checks are completed, our guide will easily spot you using your photo.

• Dashoguz Cultural Stop: Take a short drive to Dashoguz to enjoy a delicious traditional local lunch. Stour through the vibrant local bazaar to soak up the culture and pick up some road trip snacks and desert supplies.

• The Karakum Desert Crossing: Set off on an epic 300 km drive (roughly 4 to 4.5 hours) straight into the heart of the Central Karakum Desert. Keep in mind that some sections of the route are rough and unpaved, ensuring a genuinely bumpy, authentic off-road adventure!

• Darvaza Gas Crater (“Shining of Karakum”): Arrive at the breathtaking burning crater just in time to watch the mesmerizing desert sunset as the fiery glow begins to light up the dusk.

• Open-Air BBQ & Starlit Nights: Savour a mouth-watering, traditional barbecue dinner freshly prepared right at our yurt camp. Drink in the incredible views and capture stunning night photography as the blazing crater illuminates the dark desert sky.

• Yurt Camp Stay: Unwind and spend a magical night sleeping in an authentic traditional Turkmen yurt right next to the glowing crater.

Day 2: Darvaza Gas Crater – Dashoguz – Shavat border

• Sunrise Magic: Rise early for an optional pre-dawn stroll to the edge of the crater to witness the surreal morning light and capture the dying amber glow of the flames against the breaking desert dawn.

• Camp Breakfast & Desert Drive: Savour a hearty breakfast at the yurt camp before packing up and embarking on the scenic return journey across the sweeping expanses of the Karakum Desert back to Dashoguz (approx. 300 km, roughly 4 to 4.5 hours).

• Farewell Lunch: Arrive in Dashoguz and celebrate the end of your desert expedition with a delicious farewell lunch at a local restaurant, sampling authentic regional specialities.

• Border Transfer & Departure: Take a short 15–20 minute drive to the Shavat Border Checkpoint.

• 03:00 PM (Approx.) — Smooth Border Assistance: Arrive at the border terminal, where our professional team will provide full guidance and assistance through all official Turkmen customs and exit formalities.
