Expedition Programme
Day 1: From white marble to the fiery heart of the Karakum

Start of the journey: Meeting at Ashgabat International Airport and a comfortable transfer to the city.

Ashgabat at your rhythm: A flexible introductory walk adapted to your flight time. We will find the ideal balance between viewing monuments of antiquity and studying the unique modern architecture of the capital.

Leap into the desert: Departure north deep into the legendary Karakum (~270 km).

Magic of Darvaza: Arrival at the “Gates of Hell” gas crater. A photo session in the rays of the setting sun and a barbecue dinner at the very edge of the flaming abyss await you. After dark, the view of the crater becomes truly magnetic.

Night under the stars: Accommodation in traditional Turkmen yurts at the campsite by the crater.
Day 2: Desert treasures and capital rhythms

Dawn in the sands: Breakfast at the camp. Optionally — a pre-dawn visit to the crater to capture the play of light in the desert before sunrise.

Secrets of the Karakum: On the way back to Ashgabat, we will visit unique natural “bubbles” — the Water and Mud craters.

Ashgabat: Individual approach: Continuation of getting to know the capital. Your expert guide will create an itinerary to use the time as efficiently as possible, focusing on your interests — from rich culture to the striking architecture of records.

Day 3: Echoes of great empires and the road to the border

Early departure: Departure from Ashgabat towards the Mary oasis.

Taste of the East: Traditional lunch in a local restaurant.

Immersion in Ancient Merv (UNESCO): * Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum: A masterpiece of Seljuk architecture of the 12th century, once the largest building in the Islamic world.

Greater and Lesser Kyz-Kala: Famous “corrugated” fortresses made of mud brick (7th–12th centuries).

Mausoleums of the Ashabs: A visit to the sacred burial sites of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad.

Medieval life: Examination of the remains of an ancient hammam and sardoba (water storage system).

Panorama of the past: Ascent to the Erk-Kala and Gyaur-Kala citadels for a view of the vast archaeological park.

Completion of the mission: Drive through Turkmenabat to the Farap border crossing. Farewell to Turkmenistan and departure towards Bukhara.
