Day 1: Shavat → Dashoguz → Kunya-Urgench → Dashoguz
Heritage of Great Sultans and the Lights of Dashoguz
  • The Journey Begins: A warm welcome at the Shavat border crossing (Turkmen side) at 10:00 to start your adventure through the ancient lands of Khorezm.

  • A Walk Through Centuries: Drive to the legendary Kunya-Urgench, once the heart of a powerful empire. After a traditional lunch, enjoy an in-depth tour of the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

  • Architectural Masterpieces: Marvel at the Kutlug-Timur Minaret, one of the tallest in Central Asia, and admire the exquisite turquoise mosaics of the Turabek-Khanum and Tekesh Mausoleums.

  • Evening Dashoguz: Return to the city for a cosy stroll through the streets of Dashoguz, where modern rhythm meets authentic Eastern hospitality.

  • Rest: Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Dashoguz.

Day 2: Dashoguz → Izmukshir → Darvaza
From Oriental Bazaars to the Flaming Desert
  • Flavours of the East: After breakfast, visit the vibrant Bai Market. Immerse yourself in local life whilst browsing for ripe fruits, famous Turkmen halva, or unique handmade crafts and carpets.

  • Echoes of Ancient Fortresses: A short drive to the majestic ruins of Izmukshir, an ancient fortress guarding the secrets of forgotten civilisations.

  • Across the Karakum Sands: Journey deep into the desert (approx. 300 km). We shall stop at authentic teahouses along the way to experience the tranquil pace of desert life.

  • The Magic of the ‘Gates of Hell’: Arrive at the legendary Darvaza Gas Crater and settle into a cosy yurt camp.

  • Night at the Flaming Abyss: The day’s highlight is the evening at the crater. Watch the sunset fade as the roaring flames light up the desert in surreal crimson tones—the perfect moment for an unforgettable photo session.

  • Under the Stars: Overnight at the desert campsite near the glowing giant.

Day 3: Darvaza → Ashgabat

  • Sunrise in the Sands: Witness the sunrise over the flaming crater—a sight well worth the early wake-up call. After a rustic breakfast, we bid farewell to the magic of Darvaza.

  • Natural Anomalies: The road to the capital offers new surprises. We shall stop at the ‘Water’ and ‘Mud’ craters, unique sinkholes hiding turquoise lakes and bubbling mud.

  • Ashgabat – City of the Future: Arrive in the capital of Turkmenistan. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of one of the world’s most unique cities, world-renowned for its abundance of white marble.

  • Architectural Triumph: Explore futuristic avenues, grand monuments, and golden-domed palaces that make Ashgabat a true 21st-century desert oasis.

  • City Comfort: Relaxation and overnight stay at a premium hotel in Ashgabat.

Day 4: Ashgabat → Merv → Turkmenabat
The Silk Road and the Legacy of Ancient Merv
  • Chasing History: An early departure from Ashgabat towards the legends of the East, with a pleasant coffee stop along the way.

  • Ancient Merv – Cradle of Civilisations: Arrive at one of the world’s most significant archaeological parks (UNESCO). Walk the walls of the ‘Soul of Kings’, see the majestic Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, and explore the mysterious Kyz-Kala fortresses.

  • Taste of Tradition: A local lunch in Bayramaly or a scenic picnic amongst the ruins to maximise your time at this historic site.

  • Journey to Lebap: A comfortable drive to Turkmenabat, a city on the banks of the mighty Amu Darya River, serving as our gateway to the eastern part of the country.

  • Evening in Turkmenabat: Hotel check-in and rest after a day filled with the spirit of the Silk Road.

Day 5: Turkmenabat → Dayakhatun → Farap
Secrets of Caravanserais and the Banks of the Amu Darya
  • Tracing Ancient Caravans: After breakfast, visit the Dayakhatun Caravanserai. Explore its monumental portal, intricate brickwork, and the very rooms where Silk Road merchants rested centuries ago, overlooking the Amu Darya plains.

  • Turkmenabat – A Cultural Hub: Return to the city to discover its heritage. Visit the ruins of the Amul Fortress, an ancient outpost, and stroll through the city’s central squares.

  • Panoramic Views: Time permitting, visit the Lebap Regional Museum and walk along the Amu Darya embankment to feel the scale of this legendary river.

  • The Grand Finale: Transfer to the Farap border crossing. Our guide will assist with all formalities on the Turkmen side (approx. 19:00) for a smooth transition.
